Reduce the burden of energy costs

LSI is one of the UK's leading utility brokers and was one of the first companies to set up in the market following deregulation of the utility industry in 1994. They have the experience, strong supplier relationships and negotiating techniques to make savings on your energy expenditure. Their experienced team offers customers a one-stop shop for utility tendering solutions, along with expert, ongoing management of customer contracts.

In order to request a quote to reduce your energy bills, you will need to provide a copy of a recent bill for each utility together with a letter of authority printed onto headed paper. The letter of authority template can be downloaded below. Please send copies of the bills and the letter of authority, together with the coversheet clearly stating your daytime contact details and "The Consortium Services Utility Scheme" as a reference, to the contact details on the coversheet. Please read our Frequently Asked Questions before sending us your Letter of Authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you need a Letter of Authority?

In order for LSI to provide a quotation, LSI will ask for a signed letter of authority on headed paper. A specific form of words is required and a template is provided for download. Due to the provisions of the data protection act, suppliers will not allow LSI to provide a quotation, confirm details of your contract, look at consumption data to evaluate potential savings, or submit a Notice of Termination (see below) without this letter. The letter of authority does not give LSI authority to sign contracts on behalf of a customer.

It is standard to ask for a letter giving authority for up to two years to allow us to provide our account management service, but this is not compulsory. Customers can cancel the authority at any time with a single phone call or email to LSI.

My supplier has told me you've cancelled my contract! What does this mean?

The terms and conditions on utility contracts are complex, and if a customer falls foul of them they can find themselves locked into an expensive contract for up to three years without their explicit consent, or paying expensive out of contract penalty rates while moving to another energy supplier.

To avoid this, something called a Notice of Termination must be served on your supplier and LSI do this as soon as we are asked for a quotation. This is an important part of the service LSI provides and protects you from financial penalties at the expiry of your contract. This process is sometimes misleadingly referred to by energy suppliers as "cancelling a contract", but does not in any way end a contract prematurely, change the rates currently being billed, or prevent you remaining with your current supplier if you choose.
